Welcome Home To North Washington!

Forged with a historic civil war battlefield at its heart, the neighborhoods of north Washington, D.C. stand at the dawn of a new era.  Brightwood, Colonial Village, Manor Park, North Portal Estates Shepherd Park and Takoma together form the backbone of civic Washington. With a diverse and sensible housing stock, this area has always been known as a family-friendly, “move-up” destination for hardworking Washingtonians.

Now, with the redevelopment of the 110 acre Walter Reed campus in full swing, this neighborhood is poised to join the ranks of the hottest areas in the city.  This project will bring 66 acres of mixed-use development: shops, restaurants, entertainment and new residents.  Children’s National Medical Center is developing a new health research campus and the U.S. Department of State will welcome chancelleries from a dozen nations.

The city is investing over $100 million to modernize nearby Calvin Coolidge High School and construct a brand new middle school for the area.

Recreational options abound with Rock Creek Park and a public golf course right on the neighborhood’s western boundary.  Takoma Recreation Center features a 17 lane, 50-meter indoor pool and the brand new Bryce Harper baseball field. An enclosed dog park will open in a few years.

The best part about living in north Washington is being in the center of it all.  You’re only a short Uber ride or a few Metro stops away from both Downtown DC and Downtown Silver Spring.

Whether you’ve been in Washington, DC for 5 minutes or for five generations, the neighborhoods of north Washington are a place that you can call home.
